Crestone Artisans Gallery is a jewel of the San Luis Valley. It is considered part of the lifeblood of the local cultural community. Located at 120 South Cottonwood Street, Crestone, Colorado 81131. The Gallery has been providing a vehicle for local artists of the valley to show and sell their work for 15 years. It’s a co-operative effort of a core working membership of twenty artists with additional consignment artists. The gallery is managed, maintained and run by the artists themselves. Many of them came to Crestone from all over the world.

The Gallery is in a beautiful, airy space with a large covered deck and a beautiful garden. It truly caters to artisans as well as artists by including not only professional quality paintings, pottery, sculpture, weaving’s, jewelry and glass collage constructions. The gallery also includes other unusual fine art bits and pieces, such as wooden flutes, books, greeting cards, wind chimes made from reclaimed metal, locally sourced wooden lamps and candle holders.  It’s eclectic nature allows for ever changing displays and inventory. Visitors will always find something new and/or something within their price range no matter how many times they visit.

Giving back to the community is part of the mission of the gallery artists. 8 times a year they hold evening events at the gallery to highlight new art and new artists.  These events always include music, food and drink and are free to the public. At the event a popular highlight is the drawing for a piece of art that is donated by one of the members. The gallery frequently teams-up with other art venues near by such as The Artists Studio Tour to support the arts across the community. The gallery generously donates to such community efforts as free children’s art classes and The Energy Fair.

The artists who work at the gallery are very knowledgeable about not only their own art but the works and processes of the other artists. They are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge with visitors and are also very informative concerning the local area and town. Many of them are multi-talented and will have several different examples of media on display.
